3 Important Denture Care Items

Getting dentures is a wonderful cosmetic dental procedure for someone who isn't used to having many teeth, if any at all. They will likely find that it is much easier to eat and speak, and they will have a newfound confidence when they are smiling. Because dentures are such incredible things, it is very important that they are well taken care of. There are certain items that are created specifically to care for dentures. This article will discuss 3 of these denture care items in more detail:

Denture Brush

Instead of using a regular toothbrush on your dentures, it is much more effective to use a denture brush. This is a toothbrush that is made specifically for dentures. It is shorter and thicker than a regular toothbrush with grips on the handle. It also has a double head, one side for brushing the teeth part of the denture, and the other for brushing the inside of the dentures that attach to your gums. This allows you to get and keep your dentures as clean as possible when you take them out each night.

Denture Box

Once your dentures are brushed for the night, it is important that you put them in a clean and safe place. An item that is made specifically for this purpose is a denture box. This is a sturdy plastic container that has a plastic lid on the top that snaps securely into place. Your dentures will not be in the open air while in the container, thus stopping dust and airborne bacteria from getting on them. They will also be safe from damage inside of the box since. Lastly, you can fill the box up with liquid so that the dentures stay moist when they are outside of your mouth.

Cleaning Tablets

Even though you brush your teeth before putting them inside of the water in the denture box, it is important that they are kept clean and sanitary all night long. An excellent way to do this is to place a cleaning tablet inside of the denture box. This is a circular tablet that dissolves in water and releases cleansing agents that help to keep your dentures clean in the water. They do this by stopping the growth of microorganisms on your braces. The cleaner can also be used to remove plaque, stains, and debris from your dentures that you may have accidentally missed when you brushed them.
